MSM Inaugural Day of Service: Kicking Off 50 Years of Impact

ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞ School of Medicine (MSM) marked a historic milestone by launching the inaugural MSM Day of Service on April 1, 2025. As the official kickoff to MSM’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Week, this day was dedicated to serving communities across Georgia, reinforcing our mission of advancing health equity and social responsibility.

To make the greatest impact, MSM campuses were closed for work and classes, allowing faculty, students and staff to fully participate — except for those in clinical settings providing direct patient care. ÎÞÂëÈËÆÞ Healthcare remained open to continue serving patients while the broader MSM community engaged in service initiatives across multiple counties.

From mentoring children and supporting environmental initiatives, to helping seniors and vulnerable populations, MSM volunteers stepped up in a big way. Their dedication and hard work made a meaningful difference, proving the power of service and community engagement. Whether organizing resources, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up for those in need, every act of service contributed to the day’s success.

This inaugural MSM Day of Service was more than a single day of volunteering — it was a powerful demonstration of our institution’s legacy of service and a testament to the lasting impact we strive to make in the communities we serve. By stepping into neighborhoods and engaging directly with those in need, our participants strengthened their understanding of the vital connection between healthcare and community well-being.

As we continue celebrating 50 years of excellence, the spirit of service ignited on April 1 will remain at the heart of MSM’s mission.  Thank you to everyone who made the first-ever MSM Day of Service a success!
